I was born in Tuscany, Italy and raised in East Vancouver after immigrating with my parents at about the age of two. I grew up watching the news as my parents kept themselves date with what was happening both locally and internationally. They took after my maternal grandfather who was constantly switching back and forth between Canadian and Italian news channels.
I remember hearing about the days of my mum, her brother and her parents watching CBC’s The National with Knowlton Nash or ABC’s 60 Minutes with Harry Reasoner, with Andy Rooney always signing off the very end. I held journalists and reporters in high regard from a young age and always looked up to them as the great truth tellers in society. Whenever asked in elementary school what I wanted to be when I grew up, the answer was always a reporter.
I hold a Bachelor of Communication Studies from Capilano University and a Diploma in Broadcast and Online Journalism from BCIT. Along with the required Communication Studies courses, I most enjoyed taking social science electives such as history, political science and sociology.
People have always fascinated me and I have an endless curiosity that makes me want to dive down rabbit holes or be educated about someone’s unique interest through a nuanced conversation. My favourite types of content are long-form, informal sit-down conversations and feature-length written pieces that truly get to the heart of a story or issue.
When I’m not diving deep, I’m most likely spending time with family and friends, reffing amateur soccer on the weekends and exploring the city of Vancouver.
